Educating our children and youth is something we take very seriously at Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church. We want them to learn the basics of the Christian faith and the Bible while having fun, too. We also want our children to be an active part of our faith community and feel at home.

Nursery Care for Children 4 and Under

Childcare for children ages 4 and under is offered in a safe and fun setting. We have professional, trained caregivers who have gone through criminal background checks prior to serving in any area dealing with children.

Elementary Class

Our children spend the first 10-15 minutes in worship with us. Then, they move downstairs for a time of learning just for them.  In Sunday School they study the same Bible stories the adults are hearing in worship.   They learn the stories through kid-friendly media such as art, games, drama and music.

Middle School Class

New this year, our middle schoolers are using the new re:form curriculum from Sparkhouse.  Gone is the crusty, sleep-inducing program of the past. This class is all about exploration.

re:form is a totally new approach to youth ministry that trusts youth to wrestle with the historic Christian faith and theology.  The class begins with animated short films that frame the theological questions that youth really ask, and each students gets an Anti-Workbook that’s chock full of individual and group activities.

 Extra Fun Opportunities

Kids of all ages like to have fun, right?  Occasionally, our kids get together just to have fun.  In October they'll build scarecrows that will be displayed on the front yard.  This is part of a city-wide project.  In December they'll build gingerbread houses.  In January there's a game night.  And who knows, you just might find them playing sardines or having a massive nerf gun war because kids like to have fun!

Service Component
We teach our youth that while church is a fun and safe place to be, Jesus also called on his disciples to serve people who are neglected and alienated from society. Both Sunday School classes will learn about the sacrament of communion in October.  They'll learn that at the Lord's Table we are fed.  The, they'll learn that we are called to go forth from the table and feed others.  Our kids will literally help feed others by volunteering at Food Outreach.
