The mission of Faith Des Peres Presbyterian
Church is to be a vital, caring congregation of aware, open-minded and
socially committed individuals brought together in the name of God to
develop in faith and service through worship, Christian education, mission
and fellowship.
Our
ministries include:
The
Care Team provides practical, emotional and
spiritual support to members and friends of the congregation with health
concerns or other special needs. Team coordinators work with families
to identify ways the church may be of assistance to them in their individual
circumstances. The team also coordinates visits, calls and communion
for members of the church that are unable to attend services.

Cans
of Caring gives us the opportunity to share
groceries with those in need through Food
Outreach. If you wish to help, please bring canned food items to
the blue plastic bin in the library. We ask that you limit your donations
to items that Food Outreach can readily incorporate into its Nutrition
Center, which include canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon or turkey),
canned vegetables (corn, green beans or mixed vegetables) and canned
fruit (peaches, mandarin oranges or pineapple chuncks).
DUO (Do Unto Others)
holds an event each year that raises funds for selected nonprofit organizations
and includes a holiday Adopt-a-Family project to gather toys, clothing
and household items for those in need.
Small Grants from
Faith Des Peres support the activities of nonprofit organizations that
share our vision and mission. Examples of grants made by the Mission
& Ministry Committee the past few years include support for the
PC(USA) Katrina Project, the Summer Aid Program at Doorways and the
Vitamin Supplement Program at Food Outreach.
A Tutoring Group
travels each Saturday to the Learning Center on the corner of Taylor
and Westminster to help Afghani women learn the fundamentals of English
writing, reading and conversation as well as a bit of math. If you can
help, please call the church office for contact details.
Faith Des Peres Presbyterian
Women hold a monthly study group on the last Wednesday of the
month from September through April (check the church calendar in the
newsletter for meeting dates). For 2007-2008, we will study Jonah and
Ruth, using "Above and Beyond: Hearing God's Call in Jonah and
Ruth" as our guide. The group supports Lydia's
House, a transitional housing ministry for abused women and their
children. The group also undertakes special projects for the church.
