Welcome

Welcome to Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church!

Our story began in 1833 when a group of early St. Louis settlers came by wagon from the east and built an old stone church on Geyer Road.  Fast forward to now and you’ll find us worshiping in a beautiful New England style sanctuary on Clayton Road, serving the greater St. Louis community through our many mission projects, and growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ by actively engaging in thoughtful conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds.  We invite you to join us on Sunday for worship at 10:30 am. Whether you're new to church, haven't been in a while, or looking for a new church home, you are welcome at Faith Des Peres!

Our Vision

Faith Des Peres' vision is to be a faith community that challenges the present to change the future to make Christ known.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to reflect and live God's love, accept and affirm all and inspire a passion to do God's work.

The values that shape and guide our life are:

  • Accepting people for who they are and where they are on their faith journey.

  • Growing in our faith by asking questions and wrestling with ambiguity.

  • Serving others in the same way Christ served others.

  • Welcoming young and old, singles and families, respectful of race, nationality, sexual orientation, and persons of differing abilities.

We are a More Light Presbyterian Church

We endorse the mission statement of More Light Presbyterians:

Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people in the life, ministry, and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.

FAQ

FAQ

What are your worship times?

We worship every Sunday at 10:30 am at the Clayton Road location (main church). On the first Sunday of the month we celebrate the Sacrament of Communion with an open table. Children attend worship for the first 10-15 minutes before leaving for Disciples Gathering the second and fourth Sundays. They otherwise attend worship for the entire service.

You have two locations. Which one should I go to?

Normal Sunday worship services, church offices and all functions are at the Clayton Road Church (11155 Clayton Road). During the summer we hold three Sunday morning worship services at the Old Des Peres Church, usually around Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.  We also have held other services at the Old Des Peres Church, such as weddings and memorials.

Exactly where are you located?

Faith Des Peres is located on the north side of Clayton Road, midway between Ballas Road and Lindbergh Boulevard. A map can be found here.

If you're coming from I-64/40, take the Spoede Road exit, go south on Spoede. Turn right (west) onto Clayton. Go through the stoplight at Geyer Road. Then look for us on the right (north) side of the road.

Worship is held at the Clayton Road (main) Church, with the exception of Sundays close to the dates of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, when we worship at the Old Des Peres Church. Check our calendar for specifics.

Where can I park?

Some parking is located in front of the church, but the main parking lot is located behind the church.  There is a handicapped accessible entrance and parking on the west side of the building. To get to the sanctuary, you may use the doors on the east side of the church marked "church entrance" or the front doors.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code here. Our members dress comfortably. For some, this is their “Sunday best” while others prefer simple, casual clothes. Dress as you like.

What do you offer children?

Children are an active and vital part of our faith community. We believe that children are not only the church of the future; they are the church of the present, too.  For information about our education program for children, click here.

Do you have childcare available?

IMG_1716.jpg

We welcome children of all ages in worship, but we understand sometimes they need a space dedicated just for them. We offer a nursery for children who need more room to move and explore than the sanctuary provides. A parent or guardian must stay with any child in the nursery. Our worship is livestreamed, so you can connect with worship while your little one plays.

Michelle Sliger, Organist

Welcome to our new organist, Michelle Sliger, who joined us in March of 2023.

In her own words:
”I am SO pleased to be your organist! I started piano lessons at age 3 1/2 and have been playing the organ since my senior year in high school (Lindbergh). I have held several church positions in the St. Louis area over the past 36 years and most recently was the interim music director at Second Presbyterian church in the CWE. I have two daughters in college (St. Louis Univ and Univ of Central MO). I also teach piano lessons, and I am a farmer!  I inherited a peach/apple/plum orchard in Calhoun County, Illinois, from my sister four years ago, and it is quite an adventure!! Not only that, I have just started substitute teaching in the Lindbergh School District (since my college degree is actually "Secondary Math Teacher") and was just hired by Busch Stadium to work concessions for evening games. I like to stay BUSY!”
