Join Us this Sunday, March 2nd

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday we will celebrate the Sacrament of Communion. This means the kids will be pulling the wagon for Feeding the Flock, too. A list of current needs are posted in the Gathering Space weekly and now include: peanut butter, jelly, cereal, dry dinners, canned pasta, canned meat, canned fish, toilet paper, bar soap.

This is also the last Sunday before Lent begins. Next week the colors and responses will all change to reflect the mood of that season. More information about worship during Lent can be found on the website and below. But in the meantime, we hope to see you this Sunday for the last Sunday in “Ordinary Time” until June 15! - Annie

JOIN US FOR THE ADULT DISCUSSION GROUP
Dorcas Case will lead the March 2nd and March 16th Adult Discussion Group studies at 9:15am in the 2nd floor Adult Conference Room. March 2nd topic: Background & Beginnings of Christianity in the Middle East; March 16th topic: Spread of Christianity in Asia and Africa – how it flourished and why it failed. Everyone is encouraged to attend!

FREE TO A GOOD HOME
Thank you for your generosity in purchasing the new Glory to God hymnals.  These hymnals should serve the congregation well for at least twenty years! But what about the 1990 blue Presbyterian Hymnal? We plan to take sufficient copies to the old church for use there, but we’ll still have about 100 hymnals left.  Therefore, we would like to offer them to the congregation for use in your devotional life. Sunday there will be tables set up in the gathering space, and you can look through them in case there are hymnals that are special to you.  After Sunday, just check with Gay if you would like to give a blue hymnal a loving home. -The Worship Arts Committee

Faith Des Peres Gathering Space

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LENT FORUM
"Seeing Ourselves in Those Who Confronted Jesus"
March 12-April 9, 6:15-7:15 pm

Join us on Wednesdays in Lent for a special class taught by Annie Epling.  Discover the importance of those who were around Jesus and learn about groups from Jesus' time, including the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and Zealots. We will be challenged to consider who in the twenty-first-century church is like the members of these groups. Each study comes with a Participant Handout that will be e-mailed to you in advance.  You do not need to attend all 5 classes to participate.  Sign up in the Gathering Space or e-mail Pastor Annie at pastor@faithdesperes.org.

LENT THEME: GIVING IT UP
Many of us give up certain things for the forty days of Lent, and doing so can be a very beneficial thing for us. This seven-week series takes that idea one step further, talking each week about things that God wants us to give up, not just for forty days, but forever.

March 9:  Giving Up Control
March 16: Giving Up Expectation
March 23: Giving Up Superiority
April 7: Choir Cantata (“In My Place”)
April 14: Giving Up Popularity (Palm Sunday)
April 21: Easter Sunday!
