Dear Faith Des Peres Community

Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

A year ago this time we were unveiling our new Vision and Mission Statements, Values, and five-year goals to grow the church numerically and spiritually. This Sunday, when we kick-off this year’s stewardship campaign, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from the Session and its Centers (formerly committees) what they have been doing to accomplish those goals, and how your gifts to the church have been instrumental to our ministry and meeting those goals. It’s been an exciting year in which all of us have been working to live into our vision “to challenge the present to change the future to make Christ know” and our mission to “reflect and live God's love, accept and affirm all and inspire a passion to do God's work.” I hope you’ll be here to listen to everything they/we have accomplished.

Wear your blue Faith Des Peres t-shirt this Sunday to celebrate!

This is also communion Sunday, so don’t forget your food for Feeding the Flock.

See you Sunday!

Annie

Stewardship 2016-2017

This Sunday we’re kicking off this year’s stewardship campaign. Each of the centers will present what they’ve been doing this past year, and talk about how your gifts have been instrumental to their ministry. As we continue to live into our vision “to challenge the present to change the future to make Christ known”, we hope you’ll prayerfully consider what your gift to the church will be this coming fiscal year. Every gift is needed and appreciated. Thank you!

Dear Faith Des Peres Community

Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

This week a number of us are headed to Trout Lodge for the annual all-church weekend. Jay Summerville is preaching while I’m at Trout Lodge. Jay and I served together on the Administrative Commission for Bonhomme. Jay is a Ruling Elder at Second Presbyterian Church and a 3rd year seminary student at Eden. His journey is quite interesting since he went to seminary after a successful 40-year career as a litigator for Armstrong Teasdale. I think you’ll find Jay to be very thoughtful and articulate. I enjoyed working with him immensely.

On May 1 we’ll kick-off this year’s Stewardship Campaign “lessons and carols” style. Each of our centers will talk about the ministry they’ve been doing the past year and how your gifts have supported their work. We did this last year and people really enjoyed it. So, please make sure to be here on May 1. On May 8, we’ll celebrate the women of the congregation on Mother’s Day with a special worship service with some yummy treats afterwards. You won’t want to miss it!

 Blessings,

Annie

Dear Faith Des Peres Community

Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

What a great GO Sunday we had last Sunday! We served at more places and may have had more volunteers than any previous year.  I hope you’ve had a chance to see some of the pictures on our Facebook page. I want to thank Clarissa Schuller-Meyer who worked hard organizing things, and Terry Baker, Whitney Payne, and Jim Gerst who recruited volunteers and/or took charge at some of our sites. We couldn’t have done it without you! I love GO Sunday and everything it represents: living into our vision and mission, being true to our values, and practicing the resurrection.  It’s a great tradition.

This Sunday, guests from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) will give a minute for mission. They’re in town for their annual meeting and have asked to worship with us and give us an update on their ministry. As many of you know, proceeds from the One Great Hour of Sharing offering support PDA. We don’t yet have a final tally for our OGHS offering, so if you weren’t here on Easter you can still give.

I hope to see you Sunday!

 Blessings,

Annie
