Living Creation Bible Study Returns July 17 9-10 am

Our intergenerational experiential Bible study series, Living Creation, is back again this summer beginning July 17. Each Sunday for four weeks we’ll begin at 9 am with a brief Bible study led by Annie and then we will step into the stories in some unique ways. This summer, the series is based around gardening and food sources. You’ll learn about things like Tommy’s beehive escapades, make a terrarium with Beth, and share a meal during our recipe exchange and potluck on August 7. Don’t miss out. Let’s get together to relax, learn and have fun together!

To kick off the study on July 17, we’re making terrariums together. Materials, including glass bowls, will be provided and ready for you to assemble. We need clean 2 liter bottles for a kid friendly terrarium option. If you have any to donate, please leave them in the Gathering Space.

The following was received last week from their daughter, Tricia Hart: My sweet parents celebrated 63 years of marriage yesterday!  They miss their church family at Faith Des Peres but are doing really well up in Door County, Wisconsin. Surrounded by family and friends Bill turned 91 in May and Pat turned 86 this month. They keep busy with their day to day activities and Bill says their secret to a long blessed marriage is to "just enjoy each other!"

A Reminder About Pledge Payments

Our current fiscal year ends this Thursday, June 30 and we are asking all members to check the status of the stewardship pledges they made for fiscal year July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.   Your payment in full of your pledge will be deeply appreciated to enable us to meet the church’s year-end expense obligations.  If you are uncertain about the status of your pledge please let Yolanda in the church office know so she can direct your question to our bookkeeper or a member of the Finance team.  Checks can be mailed to the church by June 30 or placed in the offering this Sunday, June 26.  All that you give to support our mission to reflect God’s love, accept and affirm all and inspire a passion to do God’s work is deeply appreciated.  Thank you so much for your generosity.

Meet Gail Robins, new Director of Music and Organist

On behalf of the Session and Music Director Search committee, I’m pleased to announce that Gail Robins will begin on July 15 as our new Director of Music and Organist. I want to thank Leslie Barnes, Danny Mortimer, Kathy Sherrick and Beth Willock for
serving on the Music Director Search Committee. They’ve worked patiently and diligently over the past year! I also want to thank Peter Nettling, our Interim Director of Music and Organist, for serving Faith Des Peres since last September. I very much appreciate him sharing his musical gifts with all of us.

Dear Faith Des Peres Community

Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

This Sunday we’re celebrating Father’s Day with a “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” theme. Rev. Joe Marting is preaching, and afterwards there will be hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn for lunch. Plus, all the men will get a fun Cardinals can cozy. Plan on being here for some fun and to celebrate!

This Saturday, 7 of us will be at St. Charles Pride Fest representing the church. We’re at booth #72; come and visit us and show your support and pride! We signed up to participate months ago, but in light of the Orlando tragedy, our witness is more important than ever. One of the best things we can do to conquer hate is to show love.  That’s how we “challenge the present to change the future to make Christ known”.

And finally, if you haven’t checked out the Flat Jesus Facebook group, do so! Jesus has been some pretty awesome places this summer.

See you in church.

Annie

Centering Prayer Group Sunday, June 18 5:00 pm

The Centering Prayer Group, a small group of Faith Des Peres members and friends meets Sunday June 18, 2016 and every 3rd Sunday of the month at 5 pm in the Gathering Space. Often referred to as Christian meditation, Centering Prayer is a method of contemplative prayer that places emphasis on inner silence. It offers a way to grow in intimacy with God, moving beyond conversation to communion. Everyone is welcome.
