Educating our children and youth is something we take very seriously at Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church. We want them to learn the basics of the Christian faith and the Bible while having fun, too. We also want our children to be an active part of our faith community and feel at home. At Faith Des Peres, our kids and youth are a part of our faith community, not segmented. We value them and their participation. Sunday School meets throughout the normal school year. Please call the church office if you have any questions.
All Children and Youth
Disciples Gathering for Kindergarten through 6th grade takes place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. On the first Sundays of the month children attend worship and take part in Feeding the Flock. On the 3rd Sunday of the month children meet with their PALS at 9:30am in the Gathering Space and attend worship after that.
Nursery care for children is offered every Sunday, but children are always welcome in worship!
Childcare for children ages 4 and under is offered in a safe and fun setting. We have a professional, trained caregiver who has gone through a criminal background check prior to serving in any area dealing with children.
Our children spend the first 10-15 minutes in worship with us. Then they attend Disciples Gathering on the 2nd and 4th Sundays for a time of learning just for them. We use the Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum that irresistibly captures the imagination of kids by bringing the Bible to life! Kids walk away from class excitedly retelling the stories they just learned and eagerly awaiting what's next.
Confirmation class is offered for youth in 7th and 8th grades who are ready to confirm the promises their parents made at their baptisms and become voting members of the church. Confirmation class covers a wide range of subjects including: God, Jesus Christ, Discipleship, and what it means to be a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The Faith Des Peres Pals program is an opportunity for children, youth and adults in the congregation to develop meaningful relationships across generations. It is also an opportunity for children, youth and adults to live into our mission to “reflect and live God’s love, accept and affirm all and inspire passion to do God’s work.” The Pals program is for children and youth who are entering Kindergarten-Senior in high school. Any adult may be a Pal.
Experiences the adult and child/youth may have include:
- Spending time together and talking together, particularly on “Pals Sunday”.
- Sit together in a Sunday worship service on Pals Sunday.
- Participate in a mission project together, such as Food Outreach or Go Sunday.
- Discuss aspects of your faith in your daily life.
