We have a new Music Director/Organist! Our Interim Music Director/Organist, Rene Zajner, discerned God calling him to apply for our position, our Search Committee when we met with Rene confirmed his calling, and Session approved his hiring. Welcome to our Faith Des Peres staff and church family Rene!
My sermon message this Mother’s Day Sunday will be “Being a Congregation of Resurrection Hope” from the Acts of the Apostles 9:36-43. This is the story of the disciple Tabitha/Dorcas’ resurrection, the only resurrection of a woman in our Scriptures.
This Sunday we will hear presentations from two more of our Centers as part of this year’s financial stewardship pledge campaign during worship as well.
Following worship in honor of Mother’s Day we will again have a lunch and there will be a photographer available to take family photos.
Looking ahead, on Sunday, May 19 we will recognize this year’s graduates and will present Bibles to our fourth graders.
Memorial weekend we plan to have our first monthly summer worship at the old Des Peres church during which we will kick-off a new mission opportunity.
Looking even further ahead, the next “event” of our transition journey will be our “Summit on the Present” looking at our current mission and ministry, resources, and opportunities after worship Sunday, June 2. Lunch will be provided, and a sign-up sheet will be available in the Gathering Space soon. During the summit there will be a brief congregational vitality survey. If you are unable to attend the summit but would like to participate in the survey, please let the church office know and one will be sent to you. The summit will last no more than two hours and even if you are unable to stay the entire time, please come and participate as long as you can.
