Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

This Sunday is Pentecost, the day that is traditionally thought of as the birthday of the church! Make sure to wear RED on Sunday, the color of Pentecost. Gail has great music planned: a piano and organ duet that she composed, a guest flutist and even a little percussion. We will dedicate our stewardship pledges on Sunday, so please bring your pledge cards with you. It promises to be a great Sunday so I hope I'll see you here.

I also want to let you know that Kendra Rains, our administrative assistant, is moving to Chicago at the end of June where her husband received a new job. She's only been with us a couple of months but has been a pleasure to work with. We are in the process of looking for a new administrative assistant, but until that happens please be patient if you call the church and have to leave a message. Kendra's hours will be different as she gives what time she can, and I'll be away June 12-June 24 on vacation and at Montreat, and then again June 30-July 15 at Spofford. In July, Gail will serve as the temporary admin until a permanent person is hired beginning in August. But her hours, too, will be different. So if you need something, please leave a message on the church voicemail, or email or text. And if you know someone who might be interested in the job, let me know.

I hope to see you Sunday as we celebrate the church!

Blessings,

Annie

Dear Faith Des Peres Community,

I can’t believe it’s Memorial Day weekend! Where has the time gone? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for summer. I enjoy getting out of the routine of school activities, scheduled days, and the like. I’m ready for a slower pace.

Don’t forget that this Sunday we’ll be over at the old church on Geyer Road. There is AC, but no bathroom or parking (park on the side streets or Geyer), so please plan accordingly. Worship is at the usual time this summer at 10:30.

Despite the fact that it’s summer, there’s still a lot going on in June here at church. You can read all about it in this blog! We’d love to see you at one or more or all of the happenings!

On June 4, we’ll celebrate Pentecost and dedicate our stewardship pledges for the year. You’ll get information in the mail this week about the campaign and a stewardship card. Please bring it with you on June 4. I also want to thank everyone who gathered at the Asyres’ and Barb Abbett’s homes to hear about the campaign, and to Diane, Eliot and Barb for hosting the gatherings. I loved hearing everyone talk about Faith Des Peres and the wonderful things you said about FDP! Thank YOU for making this a great church to serve all these years. It’s been my honor to serve as your pastor!

I hope to see you Sunday, and if you’re travelling I wish you Godspeed.

Blessings,

Annie

OGHS Update

On Easter Sunday we collected over $1700 to donate to this year’s One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) offering. This surpasses the Mission and Ministry Center’s goal of $1500.   Thank you to everyone who contributed to this worthy fund. Among things OGHS supports is Presbyterian Disaster Assistance who was recently in the area touring places hit hard by the recent flooding. So, your donations are supporting people and churches here locally. Thank you again for your
generosity.

Graduation: An Important Milestone

Dear Faith Des Peres Family,

Congratulations to all of our Faith Des Peres graduates! On Sunday we’ll recognize all of our graduates who are leaving one school and moving on to a new one. This includes kids and teens graduating from preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school. What’s so interesting to me about recognizing all of these youth is that even though they are spread out in age, many of them face the same mix of emotions: joy, fear, excitement, and a little trepidation. I hope you can be here for this important milestone in their journey to support them and pray for them! If you or a family member are graduating, we hope you’ll bring your family to worship as a part of your celebrations.

This Sunday we’ll celebrate communion, too, so don’t forget your food for Feeding the Flock. As schools wind down for the year, more kids are at home and depending on food from home. This includes kids who rely on a school breakfast or lunch and won’t have access to that this summer. So please, bring in your food donations! And don’t forget that you can bring in donations any Sunday and store them in the wagons in the Bride’s Room just off the narthex (lobby).

I hope to see you Sunday!

Annie
