Buddy Packs starts This Sunday after Worship

Mission and Ministry is again partnering with University City School District to provide Buddy Packs – healthy meals and snacks – for 60 elementary school students every weekend during the 2019 – 2020 school year. Our first Buddy Pack will be immediately following church Sunday. We’ll pack in Fellowship Hall and would love to have as many people as possible to help with this great project. We will pack Buddy Packs on the second Sunday of each month (except May, when we will pack on the first Sunday that month). Join us for each packing Sunday or as many as you can attend!

A Note from Pastor Marilyn

Dear Faith Des Peres Church Family,

Where has the summer gone?  I can’t believe it’s August already!  Which means very soon school will be starting for our young people.

Speaking of it nearly being time for school to start, this Sunday is the last Sunday to bring items for Mission and Ministry’s School Supply Drive.  We will be dedicating what we have collected during worship this Sunday, August 4.

This Sunday our worship with communion will be at the Old Des Peres Church on Geyer Road.  My sermon message will be “Putting Things in Perspective” from Luke 12:13-21.

Also, this Sunday we will begin collecting your favorite hymns for inclusion in our hymn sing worship service being planned for Sunday, September 1 at the Old Des Peres Church.

I hope you have our “Summit on the Future” Sunday, August 11 on your calendars.  This is the last event of our transitional journey in preparation for a team to write your mission and ministry study report for the Presbytery and seek permission to form a Pastor Nominating Committee to begin searching for your next called and installed pastor.  Lunch will be provided.  Please sign up on the sheet at the Old Des Peres Church this Sunday or email Tiara by Wednesday, August 7.

There will be a lot of activity the next two Saturdays at our Clayton Road church.  There will be a wedding this Saturday, August 3.  Then on Saturday, August 10 the Harper School will be hold an open house to enroll new students.

I look forward to seeing you in and around our church as we share in mission and ministry together!

Shalom in Christ Jesus,

Pastor Marilyn

A Note from Pastor Marilyn

Dear Faith Des Peres Church Family,

Because we were at the Old Meeting House last Sunday we are collecting dry food items and personal care items during the offering this Sunday.

My sermon message this Sunday will be “Living Eternal Life Already” from Luke 10:25-37. This story is commonly referred to as the “Parable of the Good Samaritan.”

A reminder that Session has called our annual Congregation meeting following worship this Sunday. Annual Report booklets are now available in the narthex and the Gathering Space Agenda items include receiving the Nominating Committee report and electing Ruling Elders to Session and members to the 2019-2020 Nominating Committee, receiving various Center reports and the 2019-2020 budget approved by Session, and hearing an update on the property sale to Payne Family Homes.

I look forward to seeing you in and around our church as we share in mission and ministry together!

Shalom in Christ Jesus,

Pastor Marilyn
