It looks like Fall is finally upon us. Yes, this is a season of change. After 17 successful years of ministry, we seek God’s help to find our next full-time minister. Like the ancient Israelites, we are on a journey in which we trust God to lead us.
At this time we thank God for faith! For “Growing in our faith by asking questions and wrestling with ambiguity” is one of Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church’s four congregational values. This struggle to have faith is like that of Moses from meeting God in the burning bush to God’s freeing the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt to God leading them to a new place known only by God. We too are on such a journey, lead by God in faith. Thanks to God, we know that we too will reach our destination. Along the way we will celebrate, worship, engage each other in mission and ministry, learn more of God’s amazing love for everyone, and rejoice in all God continues to do for and through us as church community. You are welcome to join us! There is always room.

Tai Chi classes are returning to Faith Des Peres Church! Tai Chi has proven benefits of improved balance, lowered blood pressure, improved immune system, improved mood, and flexible joints! Classes will be held Tuesday evenings beginning on October 2 at 5:30 pm in the Gathering Space., Classes are just $5, pay as you go, and last one hour. Dress comfortably. Bring a friend or make a friend. You'll enjoy this soothing meditation in motion!
Join us for a fulfilling morning of mission on Saturday, October 6th at Food Outreach (on Olive and Compton). Beginning at 8am, we will don our hats and hair nets and get to work packaging meals for those in need. No prior experience necessary- the Food Outreach program is very well organized- simply show up and everything you need will be provided there. We are seeking to establish a group of 15-20 participants ages 12 and up. Please sign up in the gathering space and indicate if you have interest in carpooling! This event only is loved and enjoyed by many- we are excited to have you join!
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about this year’s Advent Devotion Booklet! We’re looking for writers to submit a devotion no more than 250 words. It can be a story, you can share a tradition, or write about something meaningful to you. We need submissions by October 14th.

Do you know anyone interested in part time work with flexible hours? We are looking for a part time Sexton who performs custodial and light maintenance duties in order to provide an attractive, clean, safe and sanitary environment for our church. If so, please contact Danny Mortimer or Andy Richter
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) urges your support for those affected by Hurricane Florence. PDA is delivering immediate aid to those impacted by the storm on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Initial assessment suggests catastrophic destruction, but the full scope of the damage will not be known for many months The storm’s path is cutting across areas still recovering from Hurricane Matthew (2016). While these winds and waters have meant loss and destruction, the work of PDA might become, as the psalmist says, “a river whose streams make glad the city of God.”
PDA is deploying teams to affected presbyteries to meet with Presbyterian and community leadership to assist in coordinating relief efforts and mucking out homes and churches. After initial needs are addressed, PDA will remain — providing spiritual and emotional care and long-term recovery to address the unmet needs of those impacted. Through your prayerful gifts, we draw hope out of the chaos.
The needs for the response are great. God’s people are once again called on to stand in the "GAP" — Give. Act. Pray.

I would like to say thank you for every call, text, prayers, thoughts and the wonderful flowers that were sent to me in my time of sickness. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. A friend is not someone that says “I love you” and never show it. Your thoughtfulness showed me that I am loved here at Faith Des Peres and I couldn’t be more grateful to work here! Join the Presbyterian Women group as they study the GOD'S PROMISE - I AM WITH YOU. They meet the last Wednesday of the month from 9:30-11:15. You can join the group any time as each lesson stands alone. They meet in the Gathering Space.
Children and youth, join Disciples Gathering as they study . Classes for children (grades K-4) and youth (grades 5-8) meet during the worship hour from about 10:40-11:30.
