As you are aware, FDP has leased classroom space on the first level of the education wing to Harper School, a new pre-school in our community. All of the inspections required for the school are near completion and Harper expects to be operational in the near future. The gates that are installed on the lower level at the foot of the east and west stairs are required for child safety purposes. We have asked the school staff to remove the gate at the east stairway at the end of the day on Fridays to provide easier access for FDP's members and guests on Sundays. The gate at the west staircase is a bit more complicated to remove and re-install so we have agreed that it can be left intact, at least for the near term. For the personal safety of our members, we are suggesting that we use the upper level entrances to the sanctuary and the gathering space or the stairs at the east end of the lower level. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Opportunities exist for all of us to help make Faith Des Peres an inviting and welcoming place to worship on Sunday mornings. Each week we need two greeters to welcome guests as well as members when they arrive, one liturgist to assist the minister with the opening part of the worship service and a team of two or three to provide refreshments for fellowship time in the gathering space. If you are unsure about what is involved and whether you are comfortable helping with one or more of these tasks, please ask a member of Session or the Membership Expansion or Worship Arts centers for more information. Signing up to volunteer is easy -- all it takes is going to the SignUp Genius links below

Join us after church on November 18 for light refreshments and kick-off to our annual Christmas Giving Tree. We’re adopting families from Lydia’s House and Southside Early Childhood Center with Christmas presents and gift cards. On the 18th you can choose what you want to purchase for them by taking an ornament from the Christmas tree.
If you would like to contribute to the poinsettia fund to decorate the church during the Christmas season, you may do so by signing up in the Gathering Space. The suggested donation is $10.00. One of the things I most love about Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church is its focus on feeding the hungry. Every communion Sunday, the kids bring a red wagon down the center aisle to gather food for Circle of Concern Food Pantry. What I find exciting in all this, however; goes deeper than that. What is amazing is that in gathering physical food before receiving spiritual food in Communion, we proclaim to young and old that God feeds us body and soul. God continuously offers food to hungry souls. In God, we find “not enough” transformed into “more than enough”, abundance!
Come then to rejoice with us in God’s presence, within and outside these walls. Join us in sharing God’s abundantly loving and merciful hospitality, one of our cherished values. Join us as well on October 14th to celebrate another baptism, make Buddy Packs for hungry children after worship, stay for a lunch topic, and celebrate with me the joyful time we spent together as October 14th is my last Sunday here. It is Sundays like these that I will miss, as well as PALS, Buddy Packs, and being with you all. Yet I am sure that God will bring you whom you need, and that all will be well. As Annie advised in her last sermon, it is time to “stay in the boat” and trust in God.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Junie
It’s a communion Sunday which means the kids will pull the wagon and collect food for Circle of Concern during the offering time. The idea behind Feeding the Flock is that while we are spiritually fed at Christ’s table, we are called to physically feed others. This is an important outreach ministry of Faith Des Peres, and is one that gets everyone involved. Even if you forgot food today, you can always donate food to Circle of Concern by dropping it off at the church. Thank you.
